August Mania

First draft is done! The third and final section of the book turned into a spaghetti mess of plot lines because new ideas kept sprouting like weeds, but the foundations are solid and I'm excited to straighten out the ideas.
I'm almost finished my final touches to part one and will send it out to beta readers next week. Section two needs some minor tweaks and some polishing, and I hope to have that done within the next 2-3 weeks. Section three, well, let's not worry about that right now.
I expect it to pass 700 pages by the time I'm finished wrestling it into submission. It's a fun but exhausting process!
What I'm reading:
I'm currently halfway through Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. Only read her Scholomance series before, which I loved. The fairy tale approach is hitting different and I'm on board for it.
Personal update:
Last month I started a vendetta against my new dishwasher and its various issues I had with its installation. I thought I had won. But a loose wire had it come undone one last time. Once I found it, it's been working smoothly since but I still get a moment of panic whenever I hit start.
Two weeks ago I had a visit to the emergency room. A piece of steak got stuck halfway down my throat. But quickly downing a can of soft drink and jumping up and down got it loose. The wonders of modern medicine.
My doctor had only seen it work once before. I was happy to be one of the few. I wasn't too keen on some claw machine operation to sort that nonsense out.
But on a happy note! We had a delivery mix up where we ended up with ten different ice cream flavours in the freezer. Some might call it excessive; I call it glorious variety!
So it's been a wild month!
That's the update for August.
Cheers, Stew.
